We are currently recruiting for three different volunteer roles:
- Telephony Assistants
Reception and Administration Volunteers
Please note that these three roles are open to UK residents only.
Volunteer roles are unpaid.
We are also looking for volunteers to join our Trustee Board, which is responsible for governance of our charity. You can find more details by clicking here.
We are looking for volunteers who will be able to answer incoming calls from our clients, take some basic registration details and process these onto our recording system.
The role is designed to ensure everybody who calls us manages to speak to somebody the first time they call, to alleviate the stress and worry of trying to get hold of an advice agency to help with their issues.
The role will ideally be home based, but full training and equipment will be provided.
Duties will be to answer incoming calls from clients calling our local adviceline. From this clients will be registered onto our system (or records updated) with a set of questions asked to establish if an emergency or urgent situation exists. There will be a future possibility to train into further advice roles for those who wish to.
You will need to have a access to the internet at home (although office space can be offered) and a quiet uninterrupted space where you cannot be overheard. Basic IT skills are essential, and a good telephone manner.

Reception and administration volunteers
As we look to reopen some of our advice services from our Covid-secure offices, we are looking for volunteers who will be able to greet clients who arrive by appointment, and also to assist with incoming and outgoing document processing. This role will be based in our offices (across the Borough of Richmond).
Duties will include:
- Greeting clients who attend for appointments and showing them to their appropriate interview space
- Dealing with clients attending the office to provide/collect/sign documents for the advice process
- Processing incoming post to our recording system
- Processing outgoing post raised by our advice team
- Keeping accurate records of attendance and document processing
We are looking for volunteers who can work flexibly, to assist not only Citizens Advice Richmond clients but also other local not-for-profit services’ clients with getting the assistance they need in a way they understand. We are open to contact from persons speaking any languages who may be able to assist as and when required (by arrangement). This may be written or verbal translation. This role will be primarily remote working.
