Community care: Grants, Meals and support from local charities

  • Downsizing Right Fit Scheme – Richmond Borough
    Supports social housing tenants who wish to downsize from homes with unused spare rooms. Benefits include financial incentives (£3,000–£12,000), rent coverage during the move, and rehousing options for adult children. The council provides full support throughout the process.
  • The Hygiene Bank – Hampton Project
    A volunteer-led initiative tackling hygiene poverty by collecting and distributing essential toiletries to those in need. Donations are accepted at various drop-off points in Hampton and Hampton Hill. Items include shower gel, toothpaste, period products, and baby supplies.
  • Linden Hall & Surplus to Supper – Community Meals & Activities
    Every Tuesday, Linden Hall Community Centre offers freshly cooked meals and surplus food on a “pay as you can” basis. The centre also hosts weekly activities for all age groups, including social clubs for over 55s, toddler groups, fitness classes, and games.
  • The Real Junk Food Project (TRJFP) – Twickenham Newsletter Q4 2025
    TRJFP runs surplus food hubs and community cafés, including a new venue at Ham Children’s Centre. The Ham Community Café celebrated its 1-year anniversary and continues to serve meals and surplus food weekly. The project has received a 3-year grant from the Hampton Fund and continues to expand its volunteer-led services. Highlights include over 341 tonnes of food saved from landfill and 122,248 meals served.
  • Hampton Fund Support
    The Hampton Fund offers financial assistance to residents in Hampton, Hampton Hill, Hampton Wick, Teddington, Twickenham, and Whitton. Support includes help with energy bills, school uniforms, and school trips for Year 6 pupils. Eligibility is based on low income, benefits, or pensions.
